Dubai
As a common stopover for frequent flyers, most travellers have visited DXB at some point on their travels. But the city itself is a sprawling metropolis of glamorous shopping malls, beaches, skyscrapers (with a new one being built every week it feels like) and exclusive hotels.
Dubai Mall
Dubai Mall (at the time of writing this - 2015) is the biggest shopping mall in the world. With it's own aquarium, ice rink and waterfall - as well as an incredible number of shops, restaurants and cafes, you can easily get lost in here for hours at a time.
Dubai Mall Aquarium
I found the aquarium at Dubai Mall to be a little overpriced. It costs around £20 to get in, and there isn't that much inside the aquarium (definitely others around the world are better). Some of the experiences they have on offer though look quite exciting.

Burj Khalifa
Burj Khalifa
At the time of writing this (2015) the Burj Khalifa is the tallest man made structure in the world. It stands impressively over the Dubai skyline, and is worth a visit to the top if you get chance.
Me at the Burj Khalifa
Unfortunately on the day I went up a huge sandstorm came in (a common occurrence) so the view wasn't as great as it would normally be.

The harbour around the tower is very pretty, and very nice to walk around in the sun, at sunset and during the evening.

The Dubai Fountains
The Dubai Fountains
Every night in the harbour between the Dubai Mall and the Burj Khalifa is the Dubai Fountain show - a show of light and music with an incredible array of fountains in the water.
