Siem Reap is one of the largest cities in Cambodia. It has all the usual things you'd expect from an Asian city: temples, markets etc. Siem Reap is famous however for its proximity to one particular temple site - Angkor Wat.

Angkor Wat is one of the most famous and incredible ancient sites in the world. Here you will find an endless supply of temples and ruins to walk around.

I booked a private tour for my day at Angkor Wat (you can buy tickets up to 7 days for the site if you have time and are really eager to see every temple). The tour was relatively inexpensive, and it meant that I had my own tour guide, air conditioned car, supply of cold towels and water, and transport all day - definitely worth it!

Angkor Wat was a main filming location for the film Tomb Raider (starring Angelina Jolie). As you walk around the ruins you will definitely see why they chose it for the film.
