Tongariro National Park

Tongariro was the first national park in New Zealand and the fourth in the world. It's located in the central North Island of New Zealand and is the closest national park to Auckland.

The national park was used for some of the Lord of the Rings shooting. Mordor, home to the Dark Lord Sauron was shot on location on and around the rocky slopes of the Tongariro National Park.

Here you can hike, climb, ski, snowboard and explore one of the most beautiful national parks in the world.
